Features of full glass floating stairs

Glass floating staircase is a common form of lightweight and artistic stairs in modern architectural design, which is characterized by a visual “suspended” effect without obvious support structure, mainly through hidden mechanical design and special materials to achieve load-bearing and stability.

1. Design principle

Hidden support structure: Fixed to the wall or ground through a built-in metal frame (such as stainless steel, aluminum alloy) or a hidden steel frame structure, bearing the main load, with only glass pedals remaining on the surface to create a “suspended” visual effect.

Glass material: Usually use high-strength tempered glass or laminated glass (such as 8-12mm thickness), with impact resistance, anti-slip and strong light transmission characteristics.

Mechanical balance: The use of lever principle or triangular support structure to ensure that the pedal is evenly stressed to avoid the risk of fracture.

2. Materials and techniques

Type of glass:
Tempered glass: high strength, broken into small particles after cracking, strong safety.
Laminated glass: Multi-layer glass with PVB/EVA film in the middle, better impact resistance, suitable for higher safety requirements.

Metal frame: Invisible design, mostly made of stainless steel or black matte metal, combined with glass to achieve seamless visual effects.

Fixing method: Connected to the building structure through embedded parts, expansion bolts or adhesives, requiring professional construction.

3. Major advantage

Minimalist aesthetics: transparent glass material and suspension design, suitable for modern, minimalist, light luxury style of home or commercial space.
Space permeability: does not occupy additional wall space, enhance indoor lighting and visual coherence.
Customization: Pedal shape (straight ladder, spiral ladder, L-shape, etc.), color (transparent, frosted, gradient) and size can be designed according to requirements.
